Objects In The Mirror

When you look in the mirror
Who do you really see?
A stranger, someone you used to know?
Or the strong individual you always wanted to be?
Perhaps you lost yourself along the way
But look closely, your inner child is still within you
Waiting to be set free
If you give yourself space and time
That reflection will go from "Somebody" to "Me"
Looking into those eyes
The one staring back at you
Smile, blow a kiss or two
Show up for yourself today
Love yourself the way
You were always too scared to
Just like the image mimicking you
We are all reflections of the self-beliefs
Our minds internally hold to be true
Objects in the mirror
Might be closer than they appear
Like the dreams and aspirations
You were born with yet were too blurry or unclear
Know it’s okay to not have all the answers
You just have to take that one leap of faith
Beyond your insecurities and tears
To build the kinetic momentum
That will break down all your walls of fear
The person in the mirror
Is so much more incredible
Than you could even comprehend
More than the best of friends
Greater than any achievement
Or materialistic metric the world could ever expend
You are not an object
That can be confined to the limits of
Items that will ultimately end
You are infinite, invaluable
Your life will soar as high as you allow it to ascend
You are magnificent
A unique, one-of-a-kind being
Whose soul and spirit will forever transcend
When you start to nitpick
Or criticize the one who’s looking back
Remember - you are perfect simply by being
We are all born completely into this world
Not from a place of lack
That individuality is something to celebrate
Think of everything you’ve gone through and learned
Imagine it in a huge stack
A purpose we discover along the way
Revealed by our passions, interests
And areas for which we have a knack
Your mirror will always show you
Who you believe you are
Don’t judge yourself
Like a book and its cover
Or a stranger from afar
You must understand
Your worth is more than your appearance, status or your car
As you write your story each and every day
Look at yourself with the attitude of
A half-full mason jar
Always growing and optimistic
Proud of every experience
You’ve lived through so far
Be that hero you always looked up to
Be the star of your own memoir
